DoylesRoom Leaves Cake Network (7 replies)

It almost seems a bit like musical chairs the way some of these poker sites change networks, and sometimes the change leaves you scratching your head.
Look at some of these strange moves by Doyles Room.

Leaving out all the switches before 2007 cause they are just too confusing....

In 2007 Doyles Room announced that it would no longer accept U.S. Players and shipped their players to FullTilt. Then less than a month later switched networks that did accept U.S. Players, (MicroGaming).
Then MicroGaming banned 13 states and eventually baned US customers.
In January of 2009, DoylesRoom moved from the Microgaming Network to the Cake Network. After becoming a part of the Cake Network, Sportsbook and Players Only, left the Cake NetWork to become a part of the Merge NetWork. Now SportsBook and Players Only was a significant amount of the Cake volume. It has been rumored that when those skins left Cake for Merge that this created a cash flow problem for Cake. Maybe this is a contributing factor to DoylesRoom's latest decision to leave the Cake Network for Yatahay Poker Network. Who?

DoylesRooms latest choice of networks to move too just leaves me baffled. I mean leaving Cake because they may not be financially sound would be a smart move, but going to a network that is virtually non-existent is what surprises me. The only thing I can think is that DoylesRoom wants to be the Big Fish, and to be the Big Fish, they must get in a little pond. That way if they are the largest skin in a 7 skin network then they think they will be able to dictate to the network and have more control over the operation of the network. I have some money on DoylesRoom so I downloaded the new software and checked my balance and then checked out some of the games, and it became obvious right away that there was almost no players in these games....... They went from a network that might have 600 cash game players to one that has less than 100 at any given time. This will make it difficult for them to be profitable, because players need other players to get a game going and generate rake for the skin.

The other thing I might consider speculating about is that maybe, just maybe DoylesRoom makes a few bucks when they actually switch networks. If the new network gives them a sort of signing bonus for switching then that would explain all the moves. It certainly explains the selling of players to FullTilt and then accepting US players again back in 2007.

Every time a poker skin switches sites they will lose players. Now sometimes a switch might be good for them in the long run, but short time they will lose a few players. My point it, when you switch networks ever 12-24 months, you never give it a chance to recover in the long run, because you have no long run,, only short term changes...

This move will be bad for DoylesRoom, because they have moved to a site that has little to no action and Doyles Players will leave eventually to find a site that has some games operating. But I also allow for the possibility that they know something I don't.

This move is bad for the Cake Network because Cake was already damaged by losing Players Only and Sportsbook and losing Doyles can only add to their problems.

When the music stops get in your chair and stay there.

mmelia Wins DoylesRoom, $100 Added Event (21 replies)

Scroll down to see the results of this event

DoylesRoom Tournaments, Private tab, Look for the DrCheckRaise $100 Added event.

Cost to enter is $2.20 of which $2 goes into the prize pool and an additional $100 on top of that will be in the prize pool as well. I had to work hard to get DoylesRoom to agree to this, and they told me I needed to get 25 people there. I want to deliver 25 people so that we can get them to spring for things like this again. I doubt that we will have more than 30 players..... so figure if we have 30 players all paying $2 to get in the game there will be $160 in the prize pool.... Presently there are 4 people signed up. If you want the password PM me.......and I will send it to you. PM's also keep this to just our members. I could get several hundred people there if we opened it up to everyone, but, I think you guys would much rather play these smaller fields... so we will keep this one to ourselves.

Again.. if you want this password, PM me and I will give it to you. Do not give it to anyone else. If they want to play they can create a DCR account and PM me as well.... Fair enough?

I find my self in and out of touch today. If I do not get back to you with the password in a timely fashion you can PM axman as well and he will make sure you get the password as well.

The tournament ran for 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Here are the money winners.

1st Prize goes to IrishQueen

2nd DrCheckRaise
3rd TKDMark
4th lotsilora
5th JJChrisJJ
6th jwh22
7th mmelia
8th LaidoffDrunk
9th IAMSurfOBX
10th AnteDeluvian
11th NFLD_Rebel
12th tooxcool
13th himura87
14th 42Cents
15th EyeJay

Congratulations to all the winners. great job IrishQueen. She played flawlessly the entire time, I sat at the same table with her for the duration. Very well played game.

I really enjoyed it and I hope you all did as well. It is really nice to play among quality players in a field under 100. I think I will be able to have 2 more just like it this month.. I already have one on the schedule.

Now, on Saturday at the same time and the same place we will have a $2 game that we will add $100 to the pot. So it will be well worth it. Let me explain something to you. To get Doyles to have this freeroll I had to agree that I would have 50 people there… we did that by having 93. This $2 buy-in event, they said they want at least 25 people there and I told them we would deliver. Now I like small field and honestly I would just as soon split $100 with 3 people, but….. I also want Doyles to work with me again next month. So if you can make it I would appreciate it and it would go a long way to help me to be able to continue these.

Again….. $100 will be put in the pot in addition to your $2 entry fee which is added to the pot as well. You can PM me for the password if you promise not to spread it all over the internet. Any member can have the password as long as you are a member of DrCheckRaise Poker Forums.

Thanks again for a great time.
Doc

We really have a good group as well as some very talented players. Am also very proud of how you conduct yourselves at the poker tables. I never hear a bad thing about you guys and I like that reputation.
I also want to tell you about what is happening tomorrow night. Same time, same Place, DoylesRoom, we are having a tourney with a $2 buy in… and, we are gonna add $100 to that prize pool….. now the great thing about that is because of the $2. buy in we will have a very small event. A lot fewer Players, so those who cash will take home better money. So if you cash tonight I hope you will join tomorrow and if you don’t still think about making a small deposit on Doyles to get in tomorrows game.
You password is, dcr&doyle
Thanks for your loyalty, and thanks for indulging me.
Doc
